Lucky Lake regulations
To guarantee a pleasant and responsible experience for all, the LuckyLake domain has established a set of simple rules aimed at preserving the site, ensuring fish welfare, and maintaining everyone’s safety.
Each anglers is committed to respecting these instructions to ensure the tranquility and quality of the stay of all visitors.
The fishery rules laid down by the management of Champagne Carping Les Lacs du Verger are designed to protect the venue, the fish and our customers and to ensure the long term success of the fishery for all to enjoy. Breaking the rules compromises this goal and will be viewed as a breach of your contract with us and we reserve the right to terminate our contractual obligations and ask you to leave the fishery without compensation.
Arrival / Departure & Age Restrictions
Anglers will NOT be permitted onto the complex before 1pm on the Saturday of arrival, this allows us time to make sure all the facilities are cleaned, disinfected and safe for your visit.
The leaving anglers must have their rods out of the lake by 9am and must vacate the venue totally by 10am on the day of departure leaving the complex in a clean and tidy state.
Anglers with guests under 16 years are very welcome but must be under the constant one to one supervision of an adult who must accept full responsibility for their actions, their welfare, behaviour and their safety.
The Fish
- ABSOLUTELY NO SACKING OF FISH.
- Bivvies must be set up in the designated gravelled swims only. NO bivvies are to be set up on the grass.
- OMC's The Twig or any other similar gadget make/brand are not to be used under any circumstances.
- All / Any carp over 50lb must be photographed in the lake on both Willow & Orchard, no exceptions or excuses.
- Fish must be retained in a landing net for the shortest possible period in preparation for weighing and photography.
- Weigh mats and the fish must be doused with water during the weighing process.
- No fish to be removed from the lakes without first removing/cutting the hook link or mainline, please adhere to this rule as most mouth damage occurs in the landing net.
- You must transfer your catch into the weigh sling provided before removal from the lake.
- Do not remove any carp from the lake in your landing net only.
- Weigh slings and unhooking mats are provided in all swims. Please do not drag them across gravel with fish in them. (DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN MATS OR WEIGH SLINGS)
- Your landing net must be dipped before any fishing begins.
- All fish to be weighed then photographed and returned to the swim from which they were captured asap.
- Please report any fish damage to management however minor.
Bait

Methods and Tackle
- We operate a three rod policy.
- Ultra sharp size 4 hooks minimum and 4oz leads are recommended.
- Mono-line to be used with a minimum diameter of 0.35. NO braided mainline.
- Braid and leaders are only allowed on marker and spod rods.
- Hook link material to be a minimum of 25lb.
- A minimum of 250mm tubing above the lead is mandatory.
- Micro barb hooks only.
- All rods to be wound in when you are leaving your swim for protracted periods such as meal times and certainly when you are off site.
- If your rods are in the lake and you are off site they will be wound in by the bailiff.
- We retain the right to make spot checks on rigs to ensure these are safe and meet our criteria. This is to protect our fish from potential damage and cut down on the number of fish that are lost during the fight.
- Our carp are a robust hard fighting strain that require the right gear and expertise to land them. We recognize that many of our clients are experienced anglers who require no guidance however, as we cater for all levels of expertise and are more than happy to provide advice and guidance where required.
The Environment
The gates are to be closed and locked at all times however short the interval between you entering and exiting them. Please treat the environment around the lakes with respect and consider the others fishing around you.
- No littering will be tolerated and this includes cigarette butts and bottle tops.
- Please use the recycle bins provided correctly.
- No damage or pruning of trees or bank side vegetation is permitted. Please report anything which requires management attention.
- Please close the gates to the fishery when you are entering or exiting the venue for however short a period.
- No firearms/airguns to be brought to the venue.
- No swimming or deep wading.
- No open fires.
The Facilities
Please leave all facilities as you would expect to find them. BBQs are allowed but must be up off the ground or use the one provided on your lake of choice.
General Behaviour
We want everyone to enjoy their week and respectfully ask all of our guests to behave in a sensible and responsible way and to respect the fishery, our other guests and the local area when they are visiting Lucky Lake.
Row Boats
There is a boat available for anglers use on both Orchard and Willow lakes. The angler will only be permitted to use the row boats when signed for by the angler, thereby agreeing to the terms and conditions set out. We take safety seriously.
- The boats are to be used entirely at the anglers own risk.
- Any damage or loss to the boats will be chargeable.
- It is the responsibility of the angler to supply their own life jackets – the boat will not be available for use unless a life jacket is worn (these can be hired on arrival).
- The use of the boat is prohibited whilst under the influence of alcohol.
